Why the Stonehenge Visitor Centre Is Essential?

Stonehenge, a 5500-year-old stone circle outside Salisbury, England, remains a mystery of ancient design. There are around 75 stones totaling a height of 4 metres (13 feet) and a width of 2.1 metres (7 feet) in the southeast of Bath, England. One of Europe’s best-known Neolithic buildings, it has captivated the world’s attention for millennia since it was built.

History/Conspiracy

Stonehenge’s construction began about 3100 BC, according to popular belief. According to this, the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt are older than this! For unknown reasons, there is no written record of the stone circle’s beginnings or its intended purpose. Outlandish scenarios are, of course, possible. One of Stonehenge’s largest stones is 25 tons, which has led to wild speculation about how Stone Age civilizations might have transported such weight. Some individuals believe the Neolithic people were helped in their labours by aliens, while others believe it was a long-extinct race of giants that had been wiped out during Noah’s flood.

The Buildings

Researchers favors less outlandish ideas like building a bridge of tree logs that might be used as a horizontal ramp, or applying animal fat to the ground in order to lessen resistance. For a variety of reasons, it’s possible that the stone arrangements performed some ceremonial or therapeutic function, or perhaps operated as an ancient observatory during the longest and shortest days of the year (the Summer and Winter Solstices).

For tourists, here is where they may discover everything about Stonehenge, including myths and historical facts. Many fascinating and historic artefacts are on exhibit in the centre, which will transport you back to the period of Stonehenge’s riddle.

  • There are a variety of artefacts and multimedia displays available to help you better understand the development of this ancient wonder while also increasing your enjoyment of the experience. The audio-visual 360-degree tour that takes you (virtually) inside the stone constructions makes it one of the most popular excursions.
  • It is possible to gain a taste of how people lived thousands of years ago by visiting the Neolithic Houses, which are situated close outside the city centre.
  • There is also a large cafe, changing rooms, and a well-stocked souvenir shop in the immediate vicinity of the tourist centre.

How long has it been since the visitor centre first opened its doors to the public?

On December 17th, 2013, the tourist centre opened its doors for the first time. A total of £27 million was spent on its construction, which included more than 250 pieces of art. Even though it’s a never-ending project, there will always be more to come. Now let us come to Stonehenge visitor centre.

Whether or if Stonehenge can be seen from the tourist centre, does it seem so?

A 1.7 metre walk separates the centre of Stonehenge from the stones themselves. Stonehenge.

Is there a fee to enter the visitor centre?

In order to enter the Visitor Center, you must have a fully paid ticket. However, a ticket is not required to visit the café or shop.
