The tuk-tuk is the means of transport emblem of the city. Drivers drive these famous three-wheelers with expertise and seep through the small open spaces in the congested streets of Bangkok. Do you want to go on a tuk-tuk tour? We give you some tips for a good experience.
Where To Take A Tuk Tuk
As with taxis, it is not a good idea to board a tuk-tuk that is waiting in a tourist area. Many times they will try to charge exorbitant prices for the journey. The most advisable thing is to move away a couple of streets to try to find a driver who offers fair prices.
Tariffs
The tuk-tuk lack a meter. The price is arranged in advance with the driver. The first key is to haggle with a smile to achieve a better price. As a general rule, the price will be swollen by at least 10 or 15 THB. The shortest trip is around 30 or 40 THB, and the price depends on the distance, the time of day, and also the mood of the driver.
Rush Hour
The tuk-tuk trip is an experience you should not miss, but it will be better to do it outside the rush hour. Between 07:00 and 09:00 and 16:00 and 19:00, the streets of Bangkok become a real hotbed. And although the tuk-tuk will be able to deal with traffic better than cars, they are not exempt from getting caught in a traffic jam.
Heat, smoke, and tension will not be pleasant additions to our exotic experience. If you must travel at rush hour, it is best to opt for the Skytrain or the Metro.
