Sandakphu trek – One of the not-to-miss treks

Sandakphu Trek offers an opportunity of adoring the highest snowline of the world including the snow-covered peaks of Bhutan, Nepal, and further to Tibet. It is a trek in the West Bengal region that lasts for about 6 days. It is a moderate level trek that takes you to an elevation of 12,000 feet. The route of the trek moves along the picturesque Singalila Ridge and India-Nepal border. The views of the stunning summit are worth all the trouble this trek demands. 

The trek passes via Singalila National Park allowing you to experience the wilderness of this excellent Himalayan trek. If you’re a nature enthusiast then this trek is meant for you. While passing by you encounter numerous flora and fauna kind ranging from conifers, alpines, broadleaf, and subtropical coniferous vegetation. The route also passes through quaint localities allowing you a chance to get close to the locals. Also, Sandakphu trek is one of those rare Himalayan trekking treasures where one gets to live in teahouses.

Sandakphu Trek is one of the best Himalayan treks to experience with a lot of highlights starting right from the Old Silk Road route to the hospitality of the Nepali and Sikkimese locals to the beautiful Singalila. It is a trek with immense beauty throughout that finally leads to stunning climax views. Some of the highlights of the trek include:-

Makalu – Standing at a height of 27,838 feet, Makalu is the fifth highest peak in the world. On a clear day, it can be viewed from the Sandakphu summit along a horizon.

Everest – This is the highest peak in the world that requires no introduction. Carry a pair of binoculars to relish the glorious views of the ice-capped Himalayan ranges. 

Lhotse – Lhotse also means the ‘south peak’ in the Tibetan language. It is a part of the Everest and is said to be one of the most remarkable trekking trails in the world. It is the fourth highest peak you’d get to adore on the Sandakphu trek.

Magnolia and Rhododendron Spring 

Spring in these beautiful mountain regions is beautifully colored. The slopes get covered with pinkish-red colored rhododendrons and white magnolias bringing in the spirit of the summer season. The surroundings bloom with wonder all around.

The red pandas can be spotted while trekking within the Singalila National Park. To capture them in a picture one must be very quick as they keep hopping from one place to other mostly treetops.
